This is Ridiculous

February 4, 2022

A short story of ridiculous hypocrisy brought to you by the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors

On February 1st, 2022, the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisor’s meeting was shut down due to one member of the public refusing to wear a mask.

The video clips you are about to watch are from the December 21st, 2021, board meeting, when Ryan Campbell was board chair. The audio is from the February 1st, 2022, meeting, my third meeting as board chair; and also from a public Facebook post following the meeting.

The video from December 21st, 2021, shows several members of the public not wearing masks, including a number of adults and kids. After presenting a resolution, Supervisor’s Campbell and Brandon shake hands with the unmasked.

There are many other instances of unmasked members of the public present in the board room over the past year when state mandates were in place.

During Supervisor Campbell’s 2021 board chair term, he was never challenged by Supervisors Goldenberg or Brandon to enforce a mask mandate on members of the public, and they certainly never shut a meeting down due to noncompliance.

Supervisors Campbell, Goldenberg and Brandon set a precedent for allowing unmasked public members in board meetings, so shall I.

Otherwise, that is hypocrisy. And that is ridiculous.

If you have not seen the full video of the February 1st, 2022 meeting, you can Click on the link below. The argument starts at about 0:57:30. https://tuolumneco.granicus.com/player/clip/596

I look forward to ending the ridiculous hypocrisy and doing the job of Governance we were elected to do.
